Academy for the Fine Arts
The Academy (AFA) for the Fine Arts at Governor Thomas Johnson High School offers Frederick County high school students in grades 10 -12, with an interest in the arts, the opportunity to take exceptional classes in music, theatre, dance and visual art. AFA courses are only offered at Governor Thomas Johnson High School during the first two instructional blocks daily. Any student planning to enroll in the AFA at Governor Thomas Johnson High School may remain enrolled at his/her home school for academic courses or may apply for Out of District to attend GTJHS.

Career and Technology Center
The Frederick County Career and Technology Center was opened in 1976. Located adjacent to the Frederick Community College campus, the Frederick County Career and Technology Center's mission is to prepare students to enter the work force after graduation having received the knowledge necessary in their chosen field to obtain employment. Over the years business and industry has changed and so has the vocational and technical training studies. We are always modifying our curriculum to keep abreast of new, current and changing technology. ROTC
NJROTC is a professional program for high school students, no matter what their career paths. It builds character, develops leadership skills, promotes patriotism and encourages responsibility and honor … all essential to becoming good citizens. Through NJROTC, cadets learn to work cooperatively, think logically and communicate effectively. The classes, activities, uniforms and teams are all tools to teach pride and respect, and help cadets understand the value of education, physical fitness and healthy living. Of course for those who are interested in a military career, NJROTC puts students ahead of the game.
