The COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 forced the arts to think more creatively about how to foster collaboration without meeting in person.  This year, the AFA was broken into 10 groups.  Each group was given a masterwork to study.  Each person in the group then wrote an ekphrastic poem about the work which captured general first impressions of the piece and key insights from the viewer/listener.  The poems were then given to another group who listened to them and created a unique collaborative video without ever seeing the original artwork that inspired the poems.
