About
The Advanced Theatre Studies program, at Gov. Thomas Johnson, was one of the original programs that ran in the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet from 1992 - 1996. It was no longer offered until 2004 when the FCPS Board of Education approved a proposal which allowed Gov Thomas Johnson to house the arts magnet program, now known as the Academy of Fine Arts. The theatre program conducted its auditions and opened our first year with 14 students in the Fall of 2005. Since then, the Advanced Theatre Studies program, saw some lean years, but continued to receive full support from the TJHS administration. As a result, the theatre program has grown into a focus that continues to increase enrollment numbers every year. The future looks very bright as the theatre program looks to add Technical Theatre to its curriculum.
